Emerging Markets in Africa: Where to go? How to go? When to go?

Thursday, October 23, 2014 - 13:00 to 19:00

Understanding potentials for Danish companies in emerging markets in Morocco and West-Africa

Emergence of West Africa as destination for investments creates opportunities for seeking future markets. European, Chinese and American companies have spotted these opportunities and are moving massively into in the Western coastal area of Africa - unlike Danish firms. Speculatively, there are, indeed, several reasons explaining why Danish firms tend to disregard this region: history, scarce political and economic relations, language issues and restricted firm resources for entering new markets. However, such factors have not hold back Danish firms from entering emergent markets in the BRICS countries. Therefore, it raises the questions whether Morocco and West Africa actually offers opportunities for Danish companies to exploit or whether they are simply unable to see these openings. The seminar will address these issues. The seminar will be organized around a dialogue between regional experts, researchers and successful Danish companies in the region.
