Master of Management Development

MMD – Master of Management Development
The Master of Management Development is a Danish executive education. We have therefore limited ourselves to a brief description of the program in English. Should you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact MMD Secretariat.
Why MMD?
The conditions for organization and management development in postmodern era are of high complexity and rapid change. The MMD program aims at empowering the participants with the knowledge, abilities and skills to handle these conditions by strongly relating the postmodern perspective to the creation and facilitation of organizational processes, strategies and knowledge building. The program relies on psychological perspectives as well as strategic and organizational understanding.
Main topics
MMD offers a thematic study program that challenges participants to chart different itineraries to experiential learning. The main focus is put on real life problems and on practically embedded challenges of local business life that each participant brings into play within the thematic framework offered by MMD. An individual learning process is tailored to the individual participant’s own goals and background focusing on leadership challenges, knowledge sharing and network building within the program.
Target group
This specialized two-year, part-time program aims at experienced practitioners within the private sector, public sector and NGOs, who want to pursue a management career. By focusing on organization and management development, the programs gives the necessary tools to this group of people who can combine their practical knowledge with the theoretical input necessary for facing the corporate challenges of today.
Program start and application
The MMD program runs every second year in February (odd-numbered years). Application deadline is the second week of December of the year before.
Course language
The course is taught in Danish but a high level of proficiency in English is desirable in order to maximize the benefit from the international resources which is made available to the participants.
Aim
The MMD aims at introducing a complexity and change perspective on organizations – as a fundamental managerial condition – and seeks to enable participants to operate wisely, responsibly and effectively under such conditions.
Structure
MMD operates from a postmodern perspective with performativity as its operational benchmark. In practice this means three parallel learning spaces:
  • Real-time classroom work (Participatory Analyses)
  • Virtual work on assignments (SiteScape Forums)
  • On-location experiences (Action Learning)
In each of the above learning spaces, the participant is expected to organize his/her own effective knowledge in collaboration with company coaches and peers, and on the program with reflection partners, teachers and semester groups.
International perspective
MMD provides the participants with visits abroad as an integral part of the program. This gives the participants the opportunity to view the problems and issues from a different perspective, and at the same time expand their international network.
