My research has for more than a decade been focussing on the distinct mode of organizing and collaboration within and among Danish firms and its evolutionary dynamic. The studies have been pursued within a comparative perspective of national divergent forms of work organization, organization of firms, labour-markets and working careers, using historical and institutional conditions to explain and understand the distinctiveness of dynamics in different countries. Within international research projects (EMOT and ESRI) financed by European Science Foundation, I have for a decade managed comparative projects of firms, modeling of National Business Systems and studies of Industrial Districts. Recently, my focus has shifted to multinational corporations and the comparative ability of subsidiaries from different countries to fight for survival and growth within MNCs. In the next years I will be directing projects that focus on how Danish subsidiaries by changing their work organization, developing ways of negotiation, relating more actively to local labor markets and being supported by the social partners are empowering themselves to meet the demanding tasks offered by the process of globalization. Our research group is financed by The Danish Social Science Council, the EU Framework 6 program and the Directorate for Working Health.
