Fiscal and Management Challenges in Aligning Operational and Tax-based Transfer Pricing.
Ardit Nesimi
In dealing with transfer pricing, MNEs are faced with two issues:
tax-compliance issues whereby MNEs try to reduce tax payments while being compliant with transfer-pricing regulations in each jurisdiction of the operations; and
operational issues whereby transfer prices are considered beyond legal and statutory purposes, including budgetting processes, performance measurement and reward systems, and issues of strategy inplementation and formation.

Politically connected firms: the role of political institutions and family relations.
Mario D. Amore
My research proposal is aimed to investigate the connections between firms and politicians. A recent strand of literature has focused on politically connected firms by providing evidence mainly at the cross-country level. Empirical results show that on average firms benefit from political connections. Nevertheless, several questions regarding the determinants of these connections and their impact have only received little attention. My work is aimed to fill these gaps.
