Tivoli Gardens

10th May 2007, 7.30 mp
Tivoli opened in 1843, and today in a world where amusement parks spend millions on high-tech roller coasters and movie-theme rides, the Tivoli Gardens are a delightful anomaly: a park where you can enjoy carnival thrills, eat sausages under the trees, swill beer in a beer garden, dine in an elegant restaurant, attend a symphony concert, enjoy free pantomime theatre, or sniff the 115.000 flowers in bloom throughout the park's season. Tivoli's charter requires that 75% of the site must be dedicated to open spaces.
A buglike roller coaster whirls through the treetops; a Ferris wheel overlooks park benches and flower beds; small motorboats make circles on a scenic lake. While teenagers play games in video arcades, their younger siblings enjoy a clown show or wave at the costumed king and queen (both children) in the Tivoli Guard parade. Business people wheel and deal over expense-account meals, and lovers cuddle on benches as 110.000 light bulbs create a romantic glow from dusk until midnight.

The Karen Blixen Museum

Karen Blixen

12th May 2007, 1.30 pm
The Karen Blixen Museum opened in May 1991. It occupies the house in which Karen Blixen was born, Rungstedlund, and to which she returned in 1931 following 17 years as a farmer in Africa. She lived at Rungstedlund until her death in 1962 and it was here that she wrote all her internationally renowned stories. Rungstedlund is situated in North Sealand, on the shores of the Øresund strait, and behind the house itself there are 40 acres of land - garden, meadow and grove.
In accordance with Karen Blixen's wishes, the area is preserved as a bird sanctuary, but is open to visitors. Karen Blixen was buried in the grounds, at the foot of Ewald's Hill.

Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

louisiana

12th May 2007, 3.30 pm
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is situated on the North Zealand coast in a spacious, old park with a fine view across the sound to Sweden. It houses an exquisite collection of modern art by international artists such as Arp, Francis Bacon, Calder, Dubuffet, Max Ernst, Sam Francis, Giacometti, Kiefer, Henry Moore, Picasso, Rauschenberg and Warhol.
Every year, the Louisiana Museum shows six to eight major exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, including classical masters of modern art as well as new and upcoming international artists.
Louisiana is not merely an experience in modern and contemporary art, but a congenial Danish reflection on the interplay between art, architecture, and landscape. The park serves as an ideal setting for displaying the museum’s collection of modern sculptures.
