The conditions of modern working life are the primary focus of my research. The project takes the challenges and problems that employees meet in achieving a good balance between work and leisure as its point of departure.
The study is to result in a theoretical cartography of how the distinction between the spheres of work and family have changed as a result of the development in new forms of organization and management. The distinction between work and that which is not work does not seem to depend on the place or institution (i.e., working place, factory, family etc.), but must be tracked and investigated in the actions, negotiations and choices of the employee.
The cartography of modern working life as a social analytic and methodology is inspired by the works of Gilles Deleuze, Félix Guattari, Louis Hjelmslev, Maurizio Lazzarato and Michel Foucault.
This research is conducted in the framework of an industrial PhD project, sponsored by Rambøll Management. The research is carried out in Novozymes, Nokia and TDC and is partly funded by the Danish Industrial PhD Programme.
