Management of Self-Management
Project participants: Sverre Raffnsøe, Niels Åkerstrøm, Bent Meier Sørensen, Anders Raastrup Kristensen, Michael Pedersen, Thomas Lopdrup Hjorth, Marius Troels Gudmund-Høyer
Management of Self-Management focuses on the challenges and potentials ofself-management.
In particular it examines the inherent social obligations of self-management which reveals itself in the fact that self-managing employees not only act arbitrarily or purely selfishly.
In contrast to the established understanding of self-management as an individualisation of the employee, this research programme maps the social obligations of self-management which entails that the individual employee also take into consideration the self-management of others and the totality of self-managing individuals in their self-management.
It is a new social contract or dynamic agreement that not only unfolds itself within our work-life, but also manifests itself on other levels in society.
The mapping of this implicit social contract is important both in order to understand how the individual can relate to and manage herself, and because it establishes the preconditions for how to manage the self-managing individuals.
The project is funded by Velux-fonden.
