About the Centre

Mission

The mission of the Creative Industries Research Centre (CIR), imagine.., is to establish itself as a leading research centre on the organisation of creativity in firms, projects and (transnational) networks, and to disseminate its research findings to Danish business and society. It is multidisciplinary and focuses on the study of creativity and commerce.

Identity

imagine.. includes researchers or research groups from five core departments at Copenhagen Business School:
  • Department of Organization (IOA), CBS
  • Department of Innovation and Organizational Economics (INO), CBS
  • Department of Intercultural Communication and Management (ICM), CBS
  • Department of International Economics and Management (INT), CBS
  • Department of Marketing, CBS
Other external partners for collaboration will be sought in due course.

Governance Structure

The centre is headed by a the Director of the centre, appointed by the Dean at Copenhagen Business School.

  • Brian Moeran, Research Professor of Culture and Communication in the Department of Intercultural Communication and Management (1 March, 2004 - 1 February, 2005).
The centre is physically located in the core department, to which the appointed or acting director belongs.
The centre is managed by a Board, consisting of the Director of the centre and the Head (or appointed representative) of each of the five departments involved within CBS. The board also consults external representatives from the creative industries.
The main role of the Board is to determine the annual budget and long term strategy, as well as plan and coordinate teaching, research and other academic activities. In addition, members decide on new collaborating partners, plan how to secure further resources, and liaise with creative industries and business partners.
Furthermore, the centre is supported by an International Research Advisory Group (IRAG) composed of internationally renowned scholars from leading foreign research institutions. One purpose of the Group is to advise members of Imagine.. on their research and related activities; another is to consider possible joint research programmes with members of other academic institutions around the world; and a third is to facilitate long-term study visits by the centre’s research students.
