My main research focus is on transformative consumer research and sustainable consumption. Transformative consumer behaviour comprises public policy research, social marketing and quality of life research.
The EU Project “I.Family” (EU FP 7 project, 2012-2017) offers the unique possibility to investigate health behaviour of teenagers and their families in Europe. Here, I co-chair the Work Package “Consumer awareness, ethical acceptability and policy implications”.
In 2011, we started the “MISTRA Future Fashion” project (Swedish project financed by MISTRA, http://www.mistrafuturefashion.com , 2011-2015), where I am the project leader for the sub-project 7 “Sustainable consumption and consumer behaviour”. The focus is on potential promising entry points to successfully induce behavioral change towards more sustainable fashion consumption.
Another area of research within (un-)sustainable consumer behaviour is compulsive buying and consumer indebtedness. To date, a representative survey has been carried out in Denmark twice. The aim is to investigate the prevalence and development of shopping addiction in Denmark and compare it to other European countries.
To make research available for the public, new approaches of knowledge brokerage are explored within the CORPUS project (EU FP 7 project, http://www.scp-knowledge.eu , 2010-2012). This project offers an ideal opportunity to work on interactive knowledge transfer at the interface of policy-making and research on sustainable development.
