Ass. Prof. Phillip Nell new CEMS Academic Director at CBS
SMG faculty member Phillip Nell takes over the CEMS Academic Director position as of January, 2012. CEMS is a strategic alliance of leading business schools and multinational companies. In his function as CEMS Academic Director, Phillip’s main tasks will be centered on coordinating the CEMS program at CBS and to represent CBS in the Academic Committee of the CEMS Alliance.
Phillip is already well-integrated in the CEMS network. He has taught in several CEMS courses notably in Vienna (WU Wien) but also in Barcelona at ESADE and in Prague at VSE. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at SMG. He studied in Germany, France, and Italy, and earned a European Master of Business Sciences degree and the German “Diplom-Kaufmann” degree. In 2009, he received his PhD from WU Wien in the field of international management and, subsequently, joined Copenhagen Business School.
Before joining academia, Phillip gained considerable industry experience as a consultant with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and conducted projects in Germany, the US, and in France in several industries. His research interests are centered on the organization of the multinational corporation, the management of subsidiaries, and the role headquarters play in large and complex structures. His research has been accepted for publication in Journal of International Management, Journal of World Business, International Business Review, and Research Policy.
