Environmental-friendly Textiles
Environmental-friendly Textiles
This project is sponsored by The Danish Environmental Protection Agency with a duration from 1999 to 2002. The project deals with production of as well as demand for environmental-friendly textiles. Environmental-friendly textiles are defined as products carrying the EU eco-label 'The Flower.' It is the intention that the results will contribute to an increased knowledge about: 1) the profitability of the development, production and sale of environmental-friendly textiles, and 2) the characteristics of the consumers/purchasers of these products.
The production analysis is based on case-studies of Danish manufacturing companies, which have experience with the development, production and sale of textiles labelled with 'The Flower.' The primary focus of the analysis is to determine: 1) the cost of production of these textiles, and 2) the possibilities and barriers of purchasing environmental-friendly materials or services from sub-contractors.
The demand analysis examines the attitude, knowledge and behaviour of consumers as well as of professional purchasers with regard to environmental-friendly textiles.
- Analysis of personal interviews with 311 consumers (in Danish only).
