Research interest
I am interested in exploring how meaning is created locally, when something new is emerging or being initiated – like a new organization or a new project. Particularly, I analyze how the involved actors draw upon different institutional logics or discourses when they seek to make sense of “the new” within their local context.
My research focus is currently on collaborative innovation within health care. I participate in CLIPS (Collaborative Innovation In the Public Sector), which is a research collaboration between more universities. Our approach to innovation in the public sector is that not only technological developments, but also human resources, organizing and collaboration can create innovation. But there are also barriers. I analyze how actors – politicians and professionals - seek to make sense of specific health care projects, when more – potentially conflicting – expectations to the innovation projects exist. Read more about CLIPS here: http://www.ruc.dk/clips/ .
My dissertation (from March 2010) is about health care centres. A recent reform of the Danish public sector facilitated that local municipalities would develop health care centres in order to manage new municipal health tasks. However, this organizational concept was not described in detail and the municipalities could therefore translate it into various types of health care centres. The PhD-project was financed by the National Institute of Public Health, the Ministry of Health, the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation, and CBS. You can read the dissertation here: http://openarchive.cbs.dk/cbsweb/handle/10398/8021 .
