Louise Lyngfeldt Gorm Hansen is currently working on her PhD thesis on the topic of: Reduction of water pollution in China - can alignment of interest between Chinese state owned enterprises (SOEs), Chinese government policy, international businesses and NGOs provide solutions?
My field of interest is China and in particular how China attempts to tackle the environmental challenges pertaining to water pollution and water scarcity, which has come about during the last decades’ fast-paced economic growth. The objective of my PhD project is to examine the processes through which efforts are being made to solve China’s environmental challenges pertaining to water pollution and, in this context, the role played by Chinese state owned enterprises (SOEs), the Chinese state’s environmental policy, NGOs and international businesses operating in the environmental and green technology sectors in China. The PhD project aims to contribute with a new angle on how solutions to complex problems, such as those pertaining to health, welfare and environment, are produced and maintained in China in a dynamic interaction between public and private interests.

Primary research areas

  • China – environment, culture, politics, economics
  • Sustainable development in China
  • Chinese State Owned Enterprises
