Organizing Innovationin Turbulent Fashion Markets
- Four papers on how fashion firms create and appropriate innovation value

Few industries exhibit more frequent product innovation than the fashion industry. In contrast to technological innovation, on which most innovation research is based, innovation in creative fashion industry target preliminarily on aesthetic and symbolic value. The paper based dissertation provides insights into four managerial challenges of the innovating fashion firm:

- What are stylistic innovations and how are they developed in increasingly turbulent competition?

- How do fashion firms design their ambidextrous organization to cope with turbulent markets?

- How do fashion firms develop synchronization capabilities when operating in dual innovation contexts?

- How does timely sharing of marketing knowledge increase performance of international sales subsidiaries of fashion firms?

The individual papers of this thesis contribute to diverse streams in the innovation literature. Collectively, the findings and arguments presented also do support the ‘dynamic capability literature,’ an emerging integrative framework at the interface between strategic management and organizational design.
