My key research interest lies within information studies, and the intersection of information management, communication and information architecture.
With a background in International Business Communication, a PhD in translation/specialist communication, and cognitive linguistics, over the last 10 years I have gradually refocused my field of interest via practical experience (jobs outside university between 1997 and 2004) with knowledge communication, information architecture and information management.
My main research interest is to study how information can be managed so that it can be used optimally and strategically, and how information architectures can be developed to help people and organizations manage their information well. I am especially interested in the disciplinary and interdisciplinary foundations of the information field, and in the theoretical foundations of information architecture and information management.
I am currently involved in the Research and Education Group in Information Architecture, REG-iA . The group’s main purpose is to provide the basis to establish IA as a full-fledged academic discipline and bridge the two camps of professional practice and academia. REG-iA is the initiator of the Journal of Information Architecture .
