Toyoko Sato received the Best Student Paper Award in the Management History Division, Academy of Management Conference, Montreal 2010, for Passion and compassion as a latecomer: The Early History of the Seibu Department Stores.
The award was given by the Management History Program Chair, Associate Professor Chester S. Spell (Rutgers University) during the regular business meeting of the Management History Division on Monday, August 9th at 5:30 pm in the Gatineau Room, Queen Elizabeth Hotel.
Toyoko presented the paper August 10 in the session, "Newness and Management History: Histories of How New Firms and New Economies Grow", with Associate Professor Stephen B. Adams (Salisbury University) and Professor Curt H. Stiles (University of North Carolina).
At this Conference, Toyoko was one of 21 nominees for the William H. Newman Award at the AOM conference. This is given for the best dissertation-related paper written by one individual amongst the year's submissions.
