Research presentation by Dr. Gideon Kunda and Dr. Galit Ailon in Kilen

All interested faculty and students are invited to an interesting afternoon with Dr. Gideon Kunda, Tel Aviv University, and Dr. Galit Ailon, Bar Ilan University with the topic:
"The one company approach": Ethnography of Transnationalism in an Israeli-Palestinian subsidiary of an MNC

Our two guests will present their recent research, place it in the broader context of their work on organizational ethnography and processes of globalization, and engage in a dialogue with the audience.

Professor Gideon Kunda teaches in the department of Labor Studies at Tel Aviv University. His book Engineering Culture: Control and Commitment in a High-Tech Corporation was chosen as Book of the Year by the American Sociological Association's Culture Section in 1994 and has been translated into Japanese, Italian and Hebrew. His latest book (with Stephen Barley), Gurus, Hired Guns and Warm Bodies: Itinerant Experts in a Knowledge Economy, examines the social organization of temporary work among engineers in Silicon Valley. Kunda is one of the world's leading authorities on organizational ethnography, and is presently interested in globalization processes in organizations and in new work forms in the knowledge economy.
Dr. Galit Ailon lectures at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Bar-Ilan University. Her research has been accepted for publication in a wide variety of journals, including The Academy of Management Review and Organization Studies. She recently published her first book, Global Ambitions and Local Identities: An Israeli-American high-Tech Merger. Her research interests include the study of identity and culture in global organizations and the critical analysis of managerial ideology.
