My central interest is state theory, state-marked relations, political theory, and sociological theory. My current research is historical-sociological comparative analyses of state formation processes in Europe including the importance of warfare for social change. Moreover, I work with globalization in particular the role of the state in historical as well as current processes of globalization. Furthermore, I have an interest in theories of modernity, processes of individualization, and the Danish welfare state in a historical and comparative perspective. Currently I have a special interest in the competitiveness of the small states in the global world. In particular I am studying the level of internationalization among large Danish companies.
