Her present research in political science is concentrated in three areas:
1) The EU integration process, with a special focus on the concept of empire and federation. This aspect tries to bring back in long-term history in the analysis of the European integration process, as well as comparison between the EU and different cases of composite polities through time.
2) Staffing policies in national and international public administration. Staffing policies of multinational polities and public organizations are compared in order to see how public administration deal with geographical balance and the extent to which public administrations are used as tools of national integration (in the case of states) or organizational integration (in the case of international organizations).
3) The EU’s language policy. A special focus is given to the implication of the EU’s language policy within the EU’s administrative structure and to the political aspects of multilingualism in composite polities. The EU is also compared to some multilingual states.
