My research deals with constructions of identities through concepts of culture and cultural encounters. Accordingly, I also have an interest in the problems and possibilities of inter- and multiculturalism in a social and institutional perspective in private and public organisations. I’m interested in understanding how changes and developments in cultures and identities are described, interpreted, institutionalized and used to act and react in situations in both past and present. My empirical interests are diverse spanning from travel accounts and globalisation to compare politics of the body in the health system of the present European welfare states and concepts of cultural encounters from 1500 society to the present private and public organisations. My theoretical inspirations originate in cultural studies, anthropology, semiotic and sociology. I have a special theoretical interest in exploring the limits of social constructivism in the human and social sciences.
At the moment I participate at a 3-years research project
”Cultural intelligence as Strategical Ressources”
founded by the strategical research counsel, from 2008-2011, which analysis the role of culture in chosen Danish companies strategies for globalisation.
