The transformations of the European models of capitalism
Bruno Amable has developed re-search on a theory of institutions and of comparative capitalism. His analysis of the diverse types of ca-pitalism has been particularly influ-ential and his book The Diversity of Modern Capitalism, Oxford Univer-sity 2003 is a beautiful example of careful comparative studies. Lately, he has published, among other tit-les, L’économie politique n’est pas une science morale (with Stefano Palombarini), Raisons d’Agir, Paris, 2005.
A major focus in recent studies on varieties of capitalisms is whether and how change-processes occur in different forms of capitalisms, and how different institutional archi-tectures are conditional for such changes. Bruno Amable addressed this question in his 2003 book and returns to the issue in his public lecture.
