Academic Profile & Strategy
It is our ambition to become a Scandinavian and European centre of knowledge within research and education in organising and management in the health care sector. The centre is meant to perform the function of a meeting place for social scientific studies that have demonstrated promising combinations in the study of organising and management in the health care sector: political science, organisation theory, the sociology of technology and knowledge as well as health economics and control technologies.
One of the centre’s key interdisciplinary themes is ’transparency’. This phenomenon has been central to many of the changes within the health care sector in recent years, such as accreditation (transparency in quality), control by charges (transparency in activities compared to consumption), and patient communication (transparency in relation to users and the public). Embedded in these efforts of reform is an organising power and they are indicating significant organisational and managerial innovations. The ambition is to elucidate various dimension of transparency, in part through a series of research projects and in part through a series of meetings and conferences.
