The Institute of Developing Economies (IDE) is a research institution affiliated with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).  IDE conducts academic social-science research on developing regions, and JETRO is a government-related organization that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world.
