New journal - a channel for new researchers

An ambitious academic journal puts focus on the global strategies of the company
Two years ago, Torben Pedersen received an e-mail from the Strategic Management Society (SMS). They were in the middle of establishing a new journal and needed a European editor. The journal was to be named Global Strategy Journal.
A step on the career path
According to Torben Pedersen, the e-mail from SMS was right on time. Career-wise, it seemed logical to add editor of an ambitious journal to the CV. Torben Pedersen also liked the fact that the journal was an entirely new project, in which he together with his co-editor Stephen Tallman would cut the first turf for the design of the journal.
- I said yes, because it is exciting to build up a whole new journal. I could have involved myself in an already established journal, but it was not what I wanted. Now I have influence on contents, function and profile, which I find very interesting, says Torben Pedersen.
A channel for new talents
The first issue of Global Strategy Journal is in the pipeline, but why do we need a new journal about global strategy, and what will the new journal contribute?
In a certain way, this journal is a result of the global strategy research area attracting more and more attention. More and more articles are written about this area.
Unlike other journals, the company and its global activities is the focus of the Global Strategy Journal. The company and the strategic choices, which have to be made when a company operates across country borders, are the points of departure.
- I think we need a journal that is committed to exactly this research area. I'm particularly interested in experienced researchers like myself taking part in making sure that there is a channel for new researchers, who have something interesting to add to research, Torben Pedersen continues.
