Press release
We need to create some calm around CBS in order for Denmark's leading business school to continue its efforts in conducting international research and creating competitive education.
Today, the Board has discussed this issue, and against that background Anders Knutsen has chosen to step down as chairman of the Board.
The Board has supported the chairman fully through the past weeks.
Anders Knutsen says that CBS will not benefit from the ongoing criticism against him, which is why he has made the decision to step down as chairman today.
- I choose to step down out of consideration for CBS, not because I accept all the criticism put forward by the media. Through the years, the Board has made a number of necessary decisions, and ultimately, the responsibility rests with me. CBS has developed a great strategy to be implemented and CBS now needs to focus on this, says Anders Knutsen.
Anders Knutsen has chaired CBS' Board since 20 November 2003 and was reappointed to the post on 4 February 2008. During that period, Anders Knutsen has helped improve CBS' financial position significantly.
- We understand Anders Knutsen's decision in this situation, and we disagree with the criticism that has been directed at him. We owe him a great debt of gratitude for the work he has carried out for CBS for many years, says Peter Schütze.
At the meeting, the Board elected Peter Schütze as chairman and Peter Gorm Hansen as deputy chairman. The Board also set up an appointments committee to recommend a new president.  The committee consists of Peter Schütze, Peter Gorm Hansen, Lisbet Thyge Frandsen, Jens Frøslev Christensen, Patrick Gram and Mads Svaneklink.
