Inaugural lecture, Dr. Claus Nygaard, Professor with special responsibilities (mso)

In early summer 2009, Dr. Claus Nygaard took up the position of Professor with special responsibilities (mso) within Management Education, with strategic focus on institutional research at CBS Learning Lab. Claus’ work focuses on research and practice related to quality enhancement in higher education. He has been a driving force behind the formulation and implementation of CBS’ Learning Strategy. He is also director and co-founder of the international academic association (Learning in Higher Education), LIHE. Claus has received several international distinguished research awards and outstanding paper awards. He has been an invited keynote speaker at international quality conferences, and worked as a quality assessor in an international university context. In 2001, he was honoured with the best teacher award at CBS. His research has resulted in several articles and anthologies and his work is published in leading international journals such as higher Education, Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education, Journal of Education Research, International Studies of Management and Organization, and International Journal of Public Sector Management.
Claus is currently engaged in a research project focusing on the link between students’ identity and learning. In his inaugural lecture, he will present a model that shows how students really learn and discuss its implications for teachers engaged in curriculum development as well as for the students themselves.
