European Policy Instruments Beyond Networks and Structure: The Innovative Medicines Initiative.
This is a study how innovation in a complex technology area can be managed across great distances in time-space. The European Technology Platforms have the potential to change the rules of the biotech innovation game, because they could create incentives for individuals in the participating organisations to make tacit knowledge available and accessible. The key is to bind policy, business and science in the project by using the properties of time-space such as simultaneity, direction, proximity, extension. This thesis suggests how.
