Spotlight: Commodity prices

13.01.2011
The demand for commodities, in particular from emerging countries such as China and India, has brought about a considerable increase in the prices of these products, and not just in the case of metals and oil but even of everyday foodstuffs such as wheat, rice, meat, and coffee
CBS Library offers access to the financial databases Datastream and Bloomberg for CBS students and faculty. In the databases you will find commodity prices, both current and historical.
Datastream:
Datastream contains financial and economic information, both historical and current, drawn from stock exchanges all over the world about shares, share price indexes, financial key indicators and instruments, commodities, derivatives, and much more. CBS students can gain access from LRC workstations at 3 Solbjerg Plads.
How to find commodity data:
  1. Select “Commodities” from the heading Data Category in the menu, then click “Find Series”
  2. In Datastream Navigator either select “Criteria Search” or simply browse through the list of subject headings in “Commodities Explorer”
Bloomberg:
The Bloomberg data terminal is an integrated platform streaming price indexes, financial data, news, trade information, and much more. Bloomberg also contains data for more than 5 million bonds, shares, commodities, currencies, and funds.
Access to the Bloomberg terminal for CBS students only upon prior agreement - How to gain access
