Once again Danish fashion takes centre stage

Copenhagen Fashion Week has opened once again. You can gain valuable insights into the industry using the best available resources on fashion and apparel provided by CBS Library.

Danish fashion industry analyses

JB Business Information/Experian is the publisher of industry analyses based on company key indicators. At CBS Library you will find 14 reports on fashion and textiles . The data in the reports are in parts drawn from CD-DIRECT . In this database you can identify the companies that operate in the industry by ways of JB industry codes. For instance, women´s apparel is assigned the code 3221050. Searching these codes in CD-Direct will allow you to group together the companies operating in the industry in a single search. Once the search is completed you can export the data for further processing. Get help using CD-Direct´s own export manual .
Navne & Numre - Erhverv provides access to company annual reports dating back 5 years.
Statbank Denmark is useful when surveying an industry. Under the heading General economic statistics select Industrial accounts statistics. Here you will find the time series “Account statistics by industry and items” (DB07). You will find the textile industry under code “13000 Manufacture of textiles”.
GMID - Global Market Information Database contains industry statistics, market reports, lifestyle analyses, etcetera focusing on countries, markets, and consumers.

Fashion industry news

The fashion industry is of relatively great consequence in a Danish economic perspective and as such enjoys a general public interest, for this reason the industry is widely covered in the Danish news media.
Børsen contains articles from this newspaper dating back to 1995.
InfoMedia provides full-text access to a large number of Danish newspapers, among these Berlingske, Politiken, Jyllands-Posten, Information, and Weekendavisen. In addition to these you can gain access to journals, magazines, and trade journals as well as a miscellany of daily papers, weekly magazines, news agencies, etc.
Factiva form the international counterpart to InfoMedia. Factiva contains app. 9000 sources and covers 118 countries and app. 22 languages. In the database you can delimit your search to cover only the apparel industry: Select Source -> Publications – By Industry -> Clothing and Textiles. You can also do a topical delimitation by selecting Industry -> Clothing / Textiles, this last you can either use as a generic heading or you may expand it by clicking the + icon.
