Regulations

§1 As an institutional library of the Copenhagen Business School the library's main obligation is to serve the needs of the Business School's staff and students. The library is open to the public and its collections may be used by all interested parties.
§2 Any person over the age of 18 with a permanent address in Denmark may benefit from library services by submitting valid identification containing his/her civil registration number, e.g. social security card or student card. In exceptional cases the library may demand security for loans. Alternatively the library may decide to issue a temporary library card.
Library cards will be issued to students and faculty of the Øresund University on submitting valid student identification cards or employment contracts.
§3 All users are registered and receive a library card. Applying for a library card obliges the borrower to abide by library regulations. If a library card is not used for a period of two years, the library card and user record will automatically be deleted from the library's register.
§4 The library card is personal and the holder is responsible for borrowed materials and for ensuring that they are returned in good condition. Borrowed materials must be returned during library opening hours on or before due date.
After opening hours library materials can be returned in the letter box at user’s own risk.
§5 The use of library data bases and electronic journals by remote access is reserved for CBS faculty, staff and students exclusively. Logins and passwords are strictly personal and may not be disclosed. Violations of these conditions will be reported to the University Director.
§6 The library must be notified of changes of address and email account. This information must be conveyed to the Library’s Circulations Department either via self service or by email: ( udl.lib@cbs.dk). Reservation notices and reminders will be forwarded to library patrons’ registered email account or texted to registered mobile telephone numbers. No attempt will be made to redirect information to library patrons’ postal address should these channels fail. Recall notices will be forwarded to registered email accounts only. Bills will be sent to a registered address by surface mail.
§7 The loss of a library card must be reported to the library. Users are responsible for loans until the library has been notified of the loss. The card can be blocked by using self service.
§8 The library cannot be held responsible for library users' reproduction of library materials either in paper or electronically.
§9 The loan period for books is usually 4 weeks. The loan period is 2 weeks for the following items: books with reservations at the time of issue, journals and AV materials. Receipts are issued for all library loans. Note that receipts serve the dual purpose of stating a due date for the timely return of library materials, and serving as a first recall notice. Normally, materials placed in reference collections, reserve collections and other special collections may be used on library premises only.
§10 Items may be renewed electronically for a maximum of three months provided they are not requested by others. Special rules apply to select groups of library patrons.
§11 A library fine status is available in the library patrons list of loans. Receipts issued upon returning library materials are valid proof of having returned library property.
§12 For the untimely return of borrowed items users will be fined according to the number of days the item is returned after due date. The process is not affected by library closing days or the non-receipt of bills issued by the library. Consult information regarding fees.
§13 If borrowed items are not returned within 35 days after due date, the card holder will receive a bill covering the cost of replacing the items and an administration fee which must be paid regardless of whether the items have been returned.
§14 In the event that borrowed items have been lost or damaged, card holders must pay for the purchase of a replacement copy or for repair. This also applies to cases in which the card holder is not personally responsible for the late return or damage caused to the item.
§15 Regulations governing the use of CBS Library lockers
Materials taken from the Reference and Reserve Collections and items not formally issued from the library may not be kept in the lockers. In case of non-compliance, the locker will be emptied of its contents and any personal items can be claimed at the counter.
Lockers - 4 weeks loans – CBS students only: The key is issued for a period of 28 days. If the key has not been formally returned 35 days after the expiration of the loan period, the locker will be emptied by CBS Library staff and the contents can be claimed at the counter. The lock will subsequently be changed at the expense of the library card holder (100 DKK) who, in addition, will be charged an invoice fee of 150 DKK. If the key is returned the fee for the change of lock will be annulled.
Lockers – same day loans – all library patrons: The key is due back on the day of issuing.
If the key is not returned in due time, the locker will be emptied on the following day by CBS Library staff and the contents can be claimed at the counter. A fine of 5 DKK is payable.
If the key has not been returned 8 days after issuing, the lock will be changed at the expense of the library card holder (100 DKK) who, in addition, will be charged an invoice fee of 150 DKK. If the key is returned the fee for the change of lock will be annulled.
§16 Following appropriate notice, unpaid bills will be sent for collection to the Central Tax Administration/ Unit for Recovery of Claims.
§17 Library users are banned from borrowing materials if an amount of DKK 200.- or more is owed. The ban will be lifted when the debt is settled. Users may also be banned if borrowed items are repeatedly not returned on time or in good condition.
§18 The CBS Library offers interlibrary loan services to CBS students, faculty and staff exclusively. Items originating from other libraries may be subject to the loan regulations of the lending library.
