CBS students can access the Reading Room at the CBS Library Porcelænshaven 24/7 with their student ID Card if it has been updated. This can be done in the Campus Desk at Solbjerg Plads.

Articles

The library subscribes to a large number of Internet databases containing full-text articles from journals and newspapers - all accessible through E-resources
Libsearch is also an option. Search across a large amount of books, articles and much more at one go.

Audio-visual material

At CBS Library you will find videocassettes related to CBS’ research and teaching. All videocassettes and the accompanying text material may be borrowed. Audiotapes may be borrowed for the independent study of a large number of languages.
The library does not provide video cameras or transcribtion equipment.

Baby Care facilities

In Solbjerg Plads, baby care facilities are available in the washrooms in the A Wing, ground floor. In Dalgas Have there is room in the basement washrooms.

Beverages

You are welcome to bring beverages into the Library.

Bloomberg Room

CBS Library provides access to a Bloomberg Terminal for CBS-students. Bloomberg has data on more than 5 million bonds, equities, commodities, currencies and funds. It covers most every publicly traded company in the world, and has profiles on more than a million people.Only CBS students has access and only by appointment. See how to make an appointment .

Book a librarian

CBS students can request the assistance of a librarian in connection with major assignments, see Book a librarian.
CBS staff may contact the Faculty Service of the CBS Library with specific questions or to arrange a specialised introduction to the Library resources, see Liaison librarian.

Book proposal

It is the intention of the Library to have all the books used in study programmes offered at the CBS. If you come across book titles the Library does not have, you can send a book proposal
CBS students and staff may order material from other libraries to be picked up at CBS, see Ordering ILL.

Book recall/Overdue notices

Receive notice by email or sms a few days before your loans must be returned. Update your data so we have your current email and mobile number. Remember that you are always responsible for returning materials before the loan period expires.
Recall/overdue notices for other users are sent to you e-mail.
The due date for return of materials is indicated on the borrower’s receipt and can also be checked on My account .

Books from other libraries

CBS students and staff can request to obtain material that the Library does not have (electronic or in print) from other libraries. Read more about Ordering ILL
Other borrowers can use bibliotek.dk , the library at their own institution of education or the public libraries.

Bookshop

There are student bookshops in both Solbjerg Plads and Dalgas Have. Visit their website at  www.academicbooks.dk

Borrowing

Books may be borrowed for 4 weeks at a time, journals and reserved books for two weeks. Find the material you need on the shelves. Look up to check availability in Libsearch .

Campus

The term ‘campus’ covers all of CBS buildings. If a database is only accessible on campus, you cannot use it at home.

Cases

CD-ROM databases

A few of the Library’s database products are only accessible on CD-ROM e.g CD-Direct and Kraks fonde og legater. These database products are only accessible on campus and are usually marked

Cellular / mobile phones

At CBS Library Solbjerg Plads we have made designated areas where you may talk - by the elevators and the Mobile Zone at the 2nd floor. Please show consideration when making calls.

Chat service

CBS Library chat on week days 9.00 - 16.00. Particularly suited for brief, factual questions and brief answers. 

Colour printer

Colour printer and copier is situated in the basement at Solbjerg Plads. Price for coloured prints is DKK 1,25 per page.

CBS students: Access to CBS’ e-resources is private and their use is restricted to your studies. You may only copy and download materials for your own use. Misuse will reported to the CBS President.

Course literature

All lecturers at CBS can request that the library purchase the literature they use in their teaching. The books are place in a special Reserve Collection, where books may only be used in the library.
The printed course material collections, which are made for most subjects, are also placed in this collection.
Lecturers are gradually beginning to use only e-course material collections, which CBS students can find on Learn .
The library does not purchase ‘class sets’.
 

CBS Mønt (pre-paid card)

Payment for printing and photocopying requires a CBS Mønt card. Blank CBS Mønt cards may be purchased for DKK 10. - at CBS Library Solbjerg Plads and CBS Library Dalgas Have, where you will find terminals enabling you to transfer credits to your card account.

Photocopies: DKK 0.60 per page
Printing: DKK 0.60 per page

Databases

All library users may use the databases on site at the Library. See a list of the Library’s databases. Search the Library > List of E-resources
CBS students and staff can also access e-ressources from PC rooms and offices on campus – and from home through remote access .

Dictionaries

Dictionaries are available in the reference collection as well as online in the list of E-resources

Disability information

The Library offers a disability-friendly workstation with an adjustable-height desk at CBS Library Solbjerg Plads. Wheelchair users can use all desks in the Language Library.

Examination papers

You can find previous examination papers in the Library’s collections. Use the keywords ‘paper collections’ when you search for them in the Libsearch .

Facebook

CBS Library is on Facebook . Ask questions, give us feedback, get tips & tricks and news from the library on your Facebook.

Food

You are not permitted to eat in the Library. Take a break and go to the cafeteria. However, you are welcome to bring beverages into the Library.

Group rooms

At CBS Library Solbjerg Plads, Dalgas Have and Porcelænshaven you will find a small number of group rooms available for CBS-students.
Link to booking and rules for use of the rooms can be found on e-campus .

Guidance and information

Contact the staff if you need help in searching in general or if you just have problems searching in a specific database.
Solbjerg Plads: Trained staff may be consulted on Monday-Thursday from 9-18, Friday from 9-16 and Saturdays from 10-16. No trained staff available on Sundays.

Information searches

There is free access to information searches on all PCs in the library and the PC rooms. Contact the staff if you need help finding the right information and use the guidelines found on the homepages, under the menu item: Guides.

Instruction in the use of the Library

The Library staff instruct students in information searching.  Courses are announced on the library homepage and e-campus.
CBS students can request the assistance of a librarian in connection with major assignments, see Book a librarian. We also engage with CBS staff to integrate library instruction with regular teaching arranged by the class’s regular teacher.
IT supporters give instruction in the use of the different computer programs etc.

Internet

There is Internet access from all computers in the Library and the PC rooms at CBS. Wireless internet available throughout campus. See laptop for more details.

Journals

The Library subscribes to a large number of journals, magazines, yearbooks, etc. within CBS’ fields of study. Journals in print are available for borrowing from the Journal Collection. A growing number of journals are also, or exclusively, found in electronic full-text editions accessible from CBS’ computers. See the E-resources
CBS students and staff can access the systems from home through remote access .
An easy way to access a particular journal. Type the journal title in Journal search .

Language courses

You can borrow material for self-study of a number of languages at the CBS Library for example material for the TOEFL test .

Laptops

CBS students: Bring your own laptop and connect it to the CBS network by the study seats in the Library, in the cafeteria in Solbjerg Plads and in the niches in Dalgas Have - or use the wireless network. See instructions on e-Campus > IT > Internet access.
Other users: You can plug your laptop into the electrical outlet. Due to security and license restrictions it is only students fra universities affiliated to the EDUROAM-organization who can go onto the Internet from laptops: Network access - eduroam at CBS

Learning Resource Center (LRC)

Large PC room for CBS students at CBS Library Solbjerg Plads on the main floor with Internet access, databases, word and number processing on 68 PCs. Use your CBS system password to gain access. Printing is paid for by CBS Mønt or student card(pre-paid card).
IT supporters can be contacted at the Campus Desk just outside the library. The opening hours of the LRC are the same as those of the Library, and IT supporters are on duty all through opening hours.

The Library

The CBS Library was founded in 1922 and has thus existed nearly as long as the school itself. In 1999, the CBS Library Solbjerg Plads moved into the building on Solbjerg Plads (designed by Vilhelm Lauritsen). A library has been located in the Dalgas Have building (designed by Henning Larsen) since 1988 and, at Porcelænshaven since 2006.

Library card

CBS students: Your student card is your library card. If you wish, you can request a separate library card. Application for library card .
CBS staff: Staff have special lending privileges, see Library card & loans at CBS Library
Other Library users: All persons over the age of 18 who are permanent residents of Denmark can obtain a library card, see Library card & loans at CBS Library

Library catalogue

In  Libsearch you can search for library material, reserve books, check the status of already borrowed materials and renew loans.

Loan period

Books: 1 months (with reservations 14 days)
Journals and AV material: 14 days.
Please see your receipt for the specific due date.
 

Lockers

CBS Library Solbjerg Plads: On the second floor there are 112 lockers that can be borrowed for a period of 4 weeks. The lockers are reserved for CBS students.
Lockers in the basement are available to everyone. The key must be returned the same day.
CBS Library Porcelænshaven: 48 lockers. The lockers are reserved for CBS students.
All keys must be borrowed and returned at CBS Library Solbjerg Plads.

Login

The PCs in the library available without login.
Some databases have special passwords – ask the staff.
Login for remote access: CBS students and staff must use their CBS system password to gain access through ‘Remote access’. If you experience problems try to update your CBS password .

Lost and found

Daily, the CBS Library hands over lost things to the CBS Information, where you can collect them.

Material return

You can return materials at CBS Library Solbjerg Plads.
The due date of the material you borrow is indicated on your receipt. See the general loan periods: Library card & loans at CBS Library

Newspapers

Several Danish newspapers are available in the sofa and newspaper reading area at the CBS Library Solbjerg Plads.
A wide variety of newspapers in the languages taught at CBS are also available in the sofa and newspaper reading area at the CBS Library Dalgas Have.

Online catalogue

In  Libsearch you can search for library material, reserve books, check the status of already borrowed materials and renew loans.

Online payment

You can pay bills and fines using your credit card (VISA-Dankort, MasterCard, Maestro, VISA) or your eDankort. Log onto My account .

Passwords

CBS students: You received the password to the PCs in the PC rooms and the mail system together with your study guide from CBS. If you have lost this information, contact the IT supporters, see e-Campus .
Logon and passwords for remote access to the Library’s databases are identical with those for your e-mail account. If you experience problems try to update your CBS password .
A few of the Library’s databases also request a password – contact the staff at the information desk.

Payphones

There are no payphones at CBS - you can find one in Frederiksberg Centret.

PC Rooms

An overview of CBS’ PC rooms and the programs available on the individual machines can be found on e-Campus  -> IT.

PhD students

PhD students at CBS have the same borrowing privileges as CBS staff: Library card & loans at CBS Library

Photocopying

Photocopiers are found on all floors of the CBS Library Solbjerg Plads and the CBS Library Dalgas Have. At Porcelænshaven copiers are found in the central part of the building. See  Price list
Payment must be made by CBS Mønt or student ID card.

PIN Code

When you get your library card you choose a PIN code (4 digits). Use the PIN code when you reserve books or check your loan status on  My account .
You can change your current PIN code . Note that this code must contain four digits.
If you forget your PIN code, you can get a new one at the library.

Pre-paid card (CBS Mønt)

Payment for printing and photocopying requires a CBS Mønt card. Blank CBS Mønt cards may be purchased for DKK 10. - at CBS Library Solbjerg Plads and Dalgas Have, where you will find terminals enabling you to transfer credits to your card account. See Price list
CBS Mønt cards are also accepted in the canteens.

Print-outs

All PCs are connected to one or more laser printers in the Library or at the LRC. It costs 0.60 DKK to print 1 page. You must pay by CBS Mønt (pre-paid card) or student ID card in the libraries and PC rooms.

In general, the use of the Library is free of charge, but copies, printouts, and loans from foreign libraries etc. are services requiring fees. See Price list.

Remote access

CBS students and staff can use e-resources at home or from any Internet connection. Click Remote Access in the top menu. Use your CBS system login for ‘Remote Access’. If you experience problems try to update your password .

Reading room and study seats

Solbjerg Plads: The Grundfos reading room on the 2nd floor is a quiet, peaceful place to concentrate free from distracting talk, ringing phones or noisy copy machines. Laptops may be connected to the computer outlets in the front section of the reading room, but there is no Internet access. For CBS users only.
Study seats on 1st and 2nd floor are for CBS users only. Bring your student ID as documentation.
Dalgas Have: 157 study seats.
Porcelænshaven: CBS students can access the Reading Room at the CBS Library Porcelænshaven 24/7 with their student ID Card if it has been updated. This can be done in the Campus Desk at Solbjerg Plads.

Reference books

A large number of reference books for looking up brief, factual answers are found in the reference collection. Onlilne encyclopedias and other factual reference books are found under in the list of E-resources

Reference Collection

Reference collection is available at Solbjerg Plads, comprising primarily different types of reference books and statistics. You may not borrow these books.

Reference tool

RefWorks is a web-based bibliography and database manager that allows you to create your own personal database by importing references from text files or online databases. RefWorks is only for CBS staff and CBS students.

Regulations

A set of general regulations applies to all Library users. See Regulations & fees at CBS Library

Renewals

Renew your books on the Internet. See Renewals or use the self-service machines in the Library.
CBS students: Inter-library-loans can not be renewed via the internet. Please contact the staff at the circulation desk.
CBS staff: Please send your materials to the Library with a note indicating that you wish to renew your loan.

Replacements

35 days after the due date the Library sends out a replacement bill. Read more about  Regulations & fees at CBS Library

Research

Many of CBS’ teachers are under obligation to research and publish their results. Find the latest CBS research in the database Research@CBS .

Reserve Collection

The library provides access to curriculum literature and compendia in the reserve collection. The materials can be used only at the library. We collaborate with Academic Books for having the most current reserve collection. Educators can request to have material placed in the reserve collection, contact Nikolaj Kjær Jensen.

Reserved library materials

Collect your reservation from the shelves next to the Quick-info counter. Your materials are shelved due to your ID number, check the e-mail you recieved.

Scanner

CBS students: A scanner is available in the Learning Resource Center (1st Floor), Solbjerg Plads 3. All copying machines in the library can be used for scanning.

Self-Service

The Library encourages users to “help themselves”. For example, you must find the material you want to borrow by yourself. You can use the self-service machines to borrow, return and renew material. You must also reserve material already on loan by yourself.

Sitemap

Click on the sitemap icon on the top bar and choose ‘Library’: Sitemap.

Software

CBS students can download the software programs SAS and SPS in LRC. Contact the  IT-supporters at the Campus Desk if you need help.

Spreadsheets

CBS Library Solbjerg Plads: In the Learning Resource Center, other PC rooms and on selected PCs in the Library the spreadsheet program Excel and other MS-Office products are available.
CBS Library Dalgas Have: The spreadsheet program Excel and other MS-Office products are available on all PCs in the room’s outer ‘curve’.

Stacks

Library users do not have access to the stacks. If you need material from the stacks, please ask the staff for assistance. At the CBS Library Solbjerg Plads we usually try to fetch the material right away.
In the CBS Library Dalgas Have and Porcelænshaven you will generally not be able to access the stack material until the following day, as the stacks are not located in close proximity to the Library.

Students ID card

Get your student ID card at the IT supporters at the Campus Desk just outside the CBS Library.
Photo post is located in the LRC 1st floor at Solberg Plads.

Subject search

The Library staff are available to assist you in finding information on subjects within the Library’s subject field – minor subject inquiries can also be solved over the phone 3815 3815 or through chat (Monday-Friday, 9-16) or via Ask the library.

Tape recorders

CBS students can borrow interview tape recorders at the circulation desk in both libraries – if all are on loan they can be reserved in the Libsearch .

Telephone service

The Library 's telephone service is open on weekdays from 9-16 on +45 3815 3815 (Monday-Friday). This service allows you to have things looked up in the Library Catalogue, to make simple subject searches and to check the status of your reservations.

Television

If you are a regular visitor to Porcelænshaven CBS Library now provides international news: Take a break, grab a head set and select a channel.

Theses

A great deal of the theses from the CBS Undergradaute and Graduate School are deposited in the Library and may be borrowed here. Find non-confidential theses by searching in the Libsearch .

Thesis Working Stations

TOEFL test

The CBS Library provides different test books, tapes and CD-ROMs that may be used in preparation for the TOEFL test, which is a part of CBS’ language testing prior to study visits abroad.
More information about the test may be obtained from the language center .

Used books

The Library does not sell used books; occasionally discarded books are put out and may be picked up for free.
CBS students can sell used books on e-Campus -> Buy & Sell.

Videos

Word processing

CBS students: The word processing program Word is available on the PCs in the Learning Resource Center and in the PC rooms.

Dalgas Have: Word and other MS Office products are available on all PCs in the room’s outer ‘curve’.
