Alumni Newsletter April 2005

Since the last Newsletter, CBS Career Center has been launched. This is not a new concept at CBS - we have a long-standing tradition of close interaction between our students and the business community – but now that very strategy has become clearly visible in the shape of a glass-walled office in the central area of the CBS building at Solbjerg Plads. There students can get advice, tools and training in managing and planning their careers at an early stage of their studies.
By establishing the Career Center, CBS has taken another major step towards strengthening our cooperation with the business community, promoting internationalisation and providing students with more and better opportunities of enhancing their business-related competences. We plan to achieve this objective by intensifying our professional dialogue with businesses about their competency and recruitment requirements and improving the way students prepare for their future jobs through different career activities and individual career guidance.

Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, former Social Democrat Prime Minister and present MEP, was appointed CBS Adjunct Professor on 4 April 2005. His wide-ranging career within politics and economics makes him a valuable asset to CBS’ development within the fields of politics, economics and globalisation.
CBS is academic partner to the “Leaders in Scandinavia 2005” conference taking place in Copenhagen on 3-4 October 2005. Prominent attendees include Bill Clinton, Madeleine Albright, Rudolph Giuliani, Jack Welch, Daniel Pink, Scott Bedbury, Robert Kaplan, Lester Thurow, Michael Porter and Dame Anita Roddick. CBS Alumni get a 15% reduction on the registration fee.
Last but not least: Do not miss out on the opportunity of getting a vitamin shot in weeks 33 and 34, when the CBS Center for Continuing Education will be offering 26 different research-based Summer School courses.
Do not forget to check relevant events in our calendar, or register in the Alumni Forum to receive invitations to events particularly relevant to alumni. Read more above by selecting “Alumni Services” and then “Alumni Forum”.
Have fun!
