Globalised world, globalised teaching

The International Business programme at CBS has introduced practical steps to prepare students with more than traditional blackboard learning.

During the last ten years, case-competitions and real-life business simulations have become increasingly popular as a teaching tool in leading business universities around the world. Huge international case-competitions with thousands of participants bring together universities, academics, students and businesses from across the world. This new way of teaching has evolved, because of a demand for practically based business education from the corporate world.
Real-life cases
From the very first year, a case-competition is an integrated part of the core Marketing course and the students are challenged to create an innovative three-year marketing plan for the IB-programme, with a budget of Euro 40,000.
In addition to the new first year case-competition, two more follow during the second year in the courses Organisational Behaviour and Management Control Systems.
The students like this new initiative: "As a student I appreciate that IB is aware of the importance of variation in teaching methods. I like to actually put all my theories to use," says Søren Holt, a first year student at IB.
