First year IB student Emiliya Kaloferova has experienced what it is like moving from Bulgaria to a completely different country, starting at a new school and meeting a lot of new people - all at the same time. Emiliya acknowledges that the special IB mentor program is a great way to help foreign students.
Moving to a foreign country is always a challenge, but Emiliya's most stressful experience in Denmark so far has been getting used to the public transport system. The fact that virtually everyone in Copenhagen speaks English has made it easy for her.
She chose the International Business program at CBS because of its high profile and its promise of exciting job opportunities afterwards. The fact that the course has an exceptional high grade point average together with its international profile made it a perfect fit for the Bulgarian student.
Emiliya arrived just in time to participate in the last week of the introduction program. She thinks it was an great experience and that the fellow students were very helpful and friendly.
Guidance
After the course-start, all first year students were offered guidance from older IB students through the mentor program. Emiliya found that the mentors held some really informative presentations and the idea of one-to-one sessions offers lots of promising opportunities. She believes that future foreign students can really benefit from this by getting help from people who have themselves been through the whole process of starting at IB.
The intensive course structure has proven to be surprisingly efficient. "The case-study method really involves the students and the group work gives us valuable experience," She says
Having found her feet in Copenhagen, Emiliya is looking forward to at least two more years in the IB Program with hard studying, real-life business experience and inspiring fellow students.
