A to Z in IB life

What can you expect when you get to Copenhagen?

A - Asking and answering questions. It might seem intimidating at first but face your fear and raise your hand. Engagement is the key to understanding and remembering!
B - Bagels. CBS now also sells the popular bagels. Pop by for a salmon bagel between the lectures
C - Canteen. In all of CBS main buildings; here is where you get your hot cup of coffee in the morning and tasty snacks or food later on. Prices for a coffee vary between 8dk- 18dk depending on size and flavour
D - Dalgas Have. One of CBS' main lecture buildings. It is by far the funkiest version of them all. Here is where most language students have classes
E - Exams. Don't dread them, they are just well...exams! With the right preparation you should not have anything to worry about. Most common exam types are: 72-hour case exam (you work on solving a case under time pressure), 4-hour written exams (closed/open book) and oral exams (normally lasting about 15 minutes and typically based on a written group project)
F - Fun. Don't forget to have fun in the meantime!
G - Grading system. The Danish grading system might be a bit confusing. You can get more information about grading here :
H - Humour. It's important not to take yourself or what you are doing too seriously!
I - International. In this international environment you will soon experience that many of your classmates have either lived, studied or come from abroad and speak several languages
J - Job. After IB you can work in a wide range of professions - anything from banking and consultancy, to music and art management
K - Kilen. The newest contribution to CBS' architecture portfolio. Impressively designed, it offers both study areas, lecture halls and serves as a "home" to many professors
L - Library. Open from 8 am until 10 pm most days. Designed as a glass cube it offers plenty of reading spaces and you will basically live here during exam times and later when you do your thesis
N - Nexus. Thursday night is party night in CBS's own venue situated right in the middle of the main school corridor at Solbjerg Plads. It is on during all semester and especially attractive during the spring semester since you can sit and relax outside in the sun while having a cold drink
O - Observer. The CBS Observer is the official student newspaper, pick it up in any of the main school buildings
P - Porcelænshaven. The CBS building where most administration offices are placed. Here you will find the IB office, admission office and the international office
Q - Quarter system. Prepares you for real-life pressure with its intensive six-week course schedule
R - Reading. Do not get frustrated if it takes forever to finish that chapter in Freeman & Louca. With time you will improve your reading skills, and 20 pages per hour will seem like a piece of cake in even the most demanding book
S - Summer school. Sign up for summer school if there is a course that fascinates you but is not offered at IB and you will also get to know people from all over the world
T - Training facilities. CBS offers membership of its own gym where students can also attend yoga and pilates
U - Ups, this letter is empty!
V - Vega. One of the main concert venues in Copenhagen, which also serves as popular club venue. Always good to know
W - Work. Many students have part-time job,s but the general advice is to spend no more than 15 hours working since it can disturb your university studies
X - as in "Xchange". There are endless possibilities if you wish to spend your fifth semester abroad. What about Barcelona or Hong Kong or maybe Los Angeles?
Y - Yawning in lectures. Happens sometimes to the best of us...
Z - Zoo. Copenhagen's amazing zoo is very close to CBS, so take the chance and visit when you need to get away from university life for a while
