A whole new chapter in your life

You have just received your admission letter for the International Business programme at CBS, and ecstatic is not anywhere near describing your feelings. But now what?

What will happen? How are those elusive first weeks in a new world? I remember the feeling myself. Suddenly a whole new chapter in my life began - and there were about 120 fellow IB'ers to write it with me.
It shouldn't come as a surprise to you that your new study mates all feel the same way as you. Everybody there is just as excited and nervous about a new beginning. Happily there are the intro guides to turn your every hope or fear into lots of fun and great experiences inside and outside campus. Carefully chosen second year students will do their best to make you feel comfortable and content during the introduction to the IB programme, the CBS campus, Copenhagen and business school life - you won't forget those times.
The first night to remember
One thing I genuinely remember is the first party we had. Everyone was slightly nervous, but a few games and some dances later it certainly became a night to remember. Next morning, the first myths and legends of the IB first year were being told in the auditorium. A few days ago they were strangers and unknown - now they have turned out to be cool and amusing new friends of yours.
I also recall that first time we met one of our lecturers. One might have expected some old bearded guy mumbling weird names and incomprehensible theories, but no - higher education isn't like that. Instead there's a middle-aged man telling you how Carlsberg will be a part of your new life at Copenhagen Business School (in more than one sense, I must add). And here's the bonus: him telling you that as a student at CBS you will meet decision makers, chief executives and a bunch of business people in the coming three years
And then, of course, there are the first books. Heavy and expensive, they might seem terrifying to you at first just as they did to me. Don't let despair conquer you, though. Just like you turn a new page in the chapters of your life, you will overcome chapters on the industrialisation of Britain and the importance of cultural understanding in international business. And when that first exam is over and out, you feel you have achieved something.
After those first weeks of IB, I was more than certain that I had chosen the right programme, and that it would become a fantastic new chapter in my life. A chapter I am surely going to read again when I grow old.
