Why choose International Business?

Lectures in English, an international programme and career opportunities are among the reasons given by current students

“I had just finished high school and I was looking for an opportunity to study business,” says Robert, a first year IB student from China. “Chinese businesses strongly emphasise internationally-oriented employees these days, and I knew I would have a better chance in the competitive business environment if I left China for my university studies.”
The IB programme at CBS interested him, because all courses were taught in English, leading to a high percentage of international students. “Due to the lectures in English and the international atmosphere, I figured that not speaking any Danish would not be a big problem. I also heard from a relative, who lives in Denmark, that almost everybody in Denmark speaks English. And this has proven to be true.”
Ruta, a first year student from Latvia, first heard about IB when researching universities outside her native country. “I read that CBS is one of the best business schools in Europe. I was glad to see that CBS offers an international programme, promising a high level education,” she says.
After her first semester at CBS, Ruta is very happy with the programmme. “I enjoy studying in such an international atmosphere. In my class we have people from Scandinavia and Germany, but also from India and the USA.” She is also impressed by the teaching methods in the IB programme. “The classes are interactive. It is not the professor who speaks constantly when giving the lectures, and students are encouraged to participate in classes and add their contributions to the discussions."
“For me, one of the best things about studying IB is the career opportunities,” says Anastacia, a second year student who is originally from Russia. She has discovered that the high entry standards to the programme are recognised by employers. "This is why IB is the bachelor programme at CBS with the highest number of graduates who move directly into a professional life.”
Meriam, a second year student born in Bulgaria, emphasises how much she has already benefited from studying IB: “I have already experienced how much studying IB can help you, when you are applying for a student job. I have worked for the American embassy in Copenhagen and I know that a lot of my fellow students currently have jobs at renowned companies like Deloitte, Dansk Industry or Saxo Bank, so you really have great opportunities.”
