BSc in Business, Language and Culture (BLC)
The first year students are grouped into classes of approximately 30 students, according to their choice of second foreign language.
In combination with the high priority of teamwork throughout the programme, this structure enhances a close contact between all students, as well as a dynamic and inspiring international atmosphere that both Danish and foreign students enjoy. The BLC programme is one of the most international bachelor programmes at CBS in terms of foreign students. This creates a diverse environment for the students, with opportunities to learn about different cultures and perspectives in addition to the content of the programme.
Many BLC students become involved in extracurricular activities, social as well as academic. In addition to the many organisations and activities at CBS, the BLC programme offers a lot of exiting opportunities.
Students arrange the intro programme for the new students, the BLC Fresh programme, which is a way to socialise with your fellow students as well as develop your organisational skills etc. You get a meaningful teamwork experience, and though the planning is hard work, the students always have a lot of fun doing it. The intro programme receives one of the best evaluations at CBS every year. Students who participate usually return with a strong sense of belonging to the BLC programme due to the commitment of the intro guides and an intro programme devoted to both social and academic activities, which ensures that everybody can be part of it.
Every year there is a “BLC Weekend” which is a cabin trip arranged by students and everybody at BLC bachelor and master level can join.
There is also a party committee called “Grotesque”, where students arrange several parties for BLC students throughout the year.
There is even a skiing trip every year especially for BLC students, which is a fun trip to join whether you are an experienced skier or not.
For those who want to be involved in academic activities there is the BLC mentor programme, where you become a mentor for the first year students, guiding them through challenges or issues they face during their first year. You get a chance to interact with the new students on a more academic level, discussing studying, group work, exams etc. As a mentor you are trained in coaching techniques and you work together with other mentors from the bachelor and master level.
There is also an opportunity to get involved by joining the BLC study board. The study board represents the bachelor and master programmes and the 4 student members and faculty discuss relevant issues about the programme involving exams, evaluations, dispensations and approvals. Being part of the study board gives the student insight and influence on the future of the programme. Election for the study board takes place every year in December, but students who have relevant input for the study board are always welcome to contact the administration.
