The programme draws on six academic fields:
  • International Business
  • Languages: Chinese or Japanese
  • Comparative Social Analysis
  • Communication and Organisation
  • Interdisciplinary Research Methods
  • Economics.
International Business: These courses integrate basic economic theory, business administration, strategy, financial statement analysis, marketing, organisation and international business and management. They are combined with other courses exploring the development and current status of Asian economic situation.
Languages: Chinese or Japanese: Language studies in Chinese or Japanese make you able to read, write, speak and understand your chosen language. The courses count for 20 per cent of the study programme, and provide in-depth knowledge of Japanese or Chinese business, society and culture. If you have no prior knowledge of Chinese or Japanese, you may be admitted to a one-year preparatory course.
Comparative Social Analysis: This field imparts an understanding of the development and nature of different societies as well as a firm theoretical background for the analysis of different economic, political, social and cultural traditions.
Communication and Organisation: Communication studies integrate the theory and practice of communications in relation to corporate, national and international relations. Issues concerning internal and external organisational and cross-cultural communications are also integrated into the curriculum.
Interdisciplinary Research Methods: These courses provide students with a thorough introduction to social science methods for interdisciplinary research. It reinforces the aim of the overall programme and the various academic disciplines.
Economics: The courses include basic economic theories and concepts including micro- and macroeconomics, financial management, business strategy, managerial economics, competitive dynamics in industries, international business economics and trade policy.
