Bachelor Admission
At each bachelor programme a small number of places set aside for standby. This means that if applicants who initially were offered a place, say "no thanks", we offer places to applicants who have applied for standby.
How to apply for standby?
While applying for admission at a programme, you have the opportunity to apply for a standby place by ticking off the box "Standby" in the KOT application. You may apply for standby on all your priorities, except if you are applying to BSc in International Business and/or Asian Studies Programme as there are no standby placess on these two programmes.
If you have already sent in your application and have now changed your mind about standby, you have until 5 July at 12 noon to notify us of your change of mind - you must do so in writing (remember to indicate your name and date of birth/CPR number).
How does it work?
If you are offered a standby place on 30 July, you are ensured a study place at the programme in question, either this year or next year. Whenever another, regularly accepted, applicant says no to an offered place, an applicant on the standby list will be offered a place of study.
If you are offered a place this year but decides to turn it down, you are NOT ensured a place next year; also, it is NOT possible to postpone the admission to next year.
If you are not offered a place on standby, your lower priorities are taken into consideration.
CBS traditionally offers all applicants on the standby list a place of study the same year, and this usually occurs within one week after 30 July. We cannot guarantee that it will happen this year, but the number of standby places at each programme is set to cover the number of place offers that is normally turned down - in other words, we do our best to ensure that eveverybody on the standby list may start sudying tis year.
Remember that other programmes at other institutions may handle the standby process differently - please make sure to contact the instutions in questions to find out how they handle standby.
Why standby?
Before you apply for standby at CBS, you should consider whether it is very important for your to start your studies this year, or if you are willing to take a small risk of having to wait a year. You must also remember that if you are offered a place on standby, you will not be admitted at a lower priority, even if you qualify to enroll at the lower priority. But if you are not offered a place on standby, your lower priorities are of course considered.
If you are interested in admission at specific programmes, it si usually a good idea to tick off standby for all programmes. This way you are giving yourself an extra chance of being admitted.
What should I remember?
If you on 30 July receive a letter stating that you are accepted on standby, you will either receive an admission letter by 15 August at the latest or you will receive a commitment letter before 1 September ensuring you admission at the programme in question next year. If you have not received any letter by 1 September, please contact us as soon as possible and no later than 15 September. We know from experience that letters are lost in the mail, and if you do not respond to an admission letter, you lose the place this yuear and has no right to be committed to a programme the following year - even if it is not your fault.
