My name is Catrine M. Wiid
I'm 26 years old and I'm a MSc SMC student at CBS, and I'm from Denmark.
Why I chose SMC:
The SMC concentration offers a great combination of marketing, creativity and innovation management, which I find very interesting. I like an international forum and I think the SMC concentration gives me the opportunity to work in an international setting. Traveling is one of my biggest passions and I can combine this with my studies since I have been selected to take the second year of my masters and get a double degree at Bocconi University in Milan.
My own visions regarding my future job:
I would like to have my own company one day and I think that SMC will help me getting the right "tools" in order to get started. |

My name is Chuthida Phichaiphrome, my nationality is Thai (i.e. I hold a Thai passport), but I was born in Melbourne, Australia.
Why I chose SMC:
While I was working in market research, I was exposed to many industries and was given various projects. Some of these projects were of exploratory nature where clients were searching for a new concept or new product idea. I found it to be increasingly difficult to come up with breakthrough ideas with a unique and "WOW" factor to present to clients. This was especially challenging with regards to mature and highly competitive industries.
When I read about the SMC concentration, my initial reaction was that this program would help mould me into a more creative person - one who is able to think out of the box and be able to see gaps in the current market place. Since this is a relevant and increasingly frustrating issue amongst companies in many industries, I believe that the SMC concentration would give me an edge in my future career.
My own visions regarding my future job:
I am quite open to various opportunities and do not have a fixed plan with regards to my career objective. I do know that I would like to work at an international and strategic level. I would like to be in a working environment where I am given a degree of freedom and experience challenging projects.

My name is Jakob Helnæs and I am one of the SMC students with the least exotic background. Originally, I am from the southern part of Jutland, but I moved to Copenhagen in order to study the CBS BSc Service Management.
Why I chose SMC:
I choose to study Strategic Market Creation, because of my interest in marketing. My interest in marketing is primarily the role of developing new, or adjusting existing products, in accordance with (latent) customer needs. SMC's take on marketing suits me very well as we treat marketing as much more than just advertising.
My own visions regarding my future job:
I can see SMC taking my career in many, very different, directions. I am mainly considering three options: (1) to keep studying marketing and do a Ph.d. herein, (2) to enter the business development/innovation consulting industry, or (3) to use the SMC innovation tools to develop and realize one of the business ideas that I am currently working on.

My name is Malte Nassner, and I am from Hamburg, Germany, but I have travelled a lot, and lived in Chile for 6 months to study Spanish, and then I traveled around South America for another 6 months.
Why I chose SMC:
Two main reasons:
1) The content of the SMC concentration builds up on the knowledge I gained during my Bachelor studies and the two internships in the international sportswear industry. Profound understanding of strategic marketing, of how to create new products and excellent skills in managing distinctive projects is essential in nowadays fast moving business life. Furthermore, I was convinced by the program's creative and practical approach.
2) The possibility of studying for an entire year at the University Bocconi in Milan and obtaining a Double Degree has been an important argument for me to apply for SMC. I am convinced that studying in Italy will not only improve my expertise in Marketing and Management, but also to broaden my horizon and last but not least to boost my chances of finding an appropriate job, preferably in the product management of the clothing industry.
My own visions regarding my future job:
I would like to work as a product or brand manager in an international company, preferably in the sportswear industry. Responsibility and creativity are important for me, as is an international environment. I could imagine to work for a couple of years in Italy.

My name is Sarah Bly, I come from the United States, where prior to moving to Copenhagen I was employed in public relations and social media marketing at an advertising firm.
Why I chose SMC:
I selected SMC because it represented a radically different way of looking at business and marketing and was a program I have not seen offered anywhere else. Coming from a communications agency background, much of my involvement in the past has been with "selling" a product or service to the consumer once it has been created. SMC, on the other hand, puts consumer knowledge at the center of the equation - which gives me a very different perspective from my professional background.
My own visions regarding my future job:
I would like to be in a role that has intimate familiarity with consumers, consumer movements and trends and is responsible for disseminating this information with other key parts of the organization. Preferably a organization with a progressive attitude and vision.
