MSc in Advanced Economics and Finance (cand.oecon.) – Elite Programme
The programme has been created to accomodate the need for economists with strong quantitative competencies at banks, mortgage credit institutions, pension funds, insurance companies, investment banks, the Danish central bank (Nationalbanken); at major consultancy companies such as Simcorp, SAS Institute, McKinsey & Co, Ernst & Young, KPMG, Deloitte, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, as well as more local ones like Copenhagen Economics and Cowi Consults; in the Danish Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economic and Business affairs, the Danish labour market supplementary pension (ATP) as well as at international organizations such as OECD, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Finally, it is possible to imagine that some of the students will pursue careers as researchers by applying for PhD scholarships in Denmark or abroad.
There is a big and increasing need for graduate students with strong quantitative backgrounds within finance and economics. Graduates with less targeted areas of specialization from, for instance, the regular MSc programmes in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Aarhus and the University of Copenhagen, the Mathematics and Economics programme at CBS and, at a lower technical level, the MSc programme in Applied Economics and Finance are often recruited to well-paid positions in financial companies in Denmark and abroad.
