MSc in Business, Language and Culture - Leadership and Management Studies (LMS)
The programme devotes two required, case-intensive courses to the theory and practice of leadership and management. Another course in project management prepares students to design, execute and evaluate projects, and explores more broadly what it means to lead projects instead of organisations or businesses.
Relational Perspectives on Cultural Contexts
LMS candidates also acquire the insights needed to lead and manage effectively in overlapping cultural contexts — organisational, professional, national, regional, and political. Upon completion of the course, candidates with a practical and relational understanding of cultures will be able to mobilise their own advantage and the advantage of the organisations they lead.
Because the programme prioritises relational and communication skills for effective leadership, candidates take most of their courses in English, including one on research and writing on leadership and management issues. Other courses explore business cases and broader issues relevant to the practice of leadership and management in a variety of cultural contexts, and help candidates to develop proficiency in another language — Chinese, French, German, Japanese or Spanish.
The leadership skills and insights acquired in LMS are relevant to many career paths, including general management, consulting, project management, product management, entrepreneurial ventures, communications, media relations, public management, and international development and aid work.
