International/Industrial Marketing and Purchasing
The International/Industrial Marketing and Purchasing concentration focuses on B2B markets and the influence of globalisation. Outsourcing and moving production facilities in fact trigger severe changes and significantly effects the companies’ performances.
Business to Business
The B2B market is characterised by long-lasting relationships between customers and suppliers, where both parties have an active role on the market. Furthermore, relationships are affected by interrelated and complex resource networks, players and assets; all factors that can have a domino effect and change relationships dramatically.
Being a customer or a supplier requires a great understanding of the counterpart’s situation; therefore this specialisation focuses on purchase and selling. Students develop a general understanding for relations and networks and an in-depth knowledge in these relations’ influence on purchasing, selling, product development and strategy.
Mentoring
The IMP concentration is offered in the town of Herning (in Jutland) at Birk Innovation and Research Centre in close collaboration with mid-/west- Jutland companies.
BIRC offers students the possibility to join forces with a mentoring company, which students are expected to work with during the entire study period. The mentoring programme provides students with a deeper understanding of theoretical issues in a real-life setting in a way that projects or other short practical periods cannot match. Additionally, students benefit from the mentoring programme, when they apply for a job in the future.
