This concentration gives you state-of-the-art analytical techniques and approaches to assist in making financial and strategic decisions. You develop insight and skills to determine whether these decisions are appropriate in an overall strategic context, and you study the important links between finance and strategy.
Since corporate financial managers and finance executives are often confronted with issues that may have important strategic consequences for their enterprises, there is a need to embrace key perspectives from the disciplines of finance and management.
You study the various functional areas of a corporation and consider the role of management policy and strategy necessary to achieve a successful market position and operational fulfilment. You will come to appreciate how the different areas in the field of finance provide disciplined analytical
techniques to support internal corporate decision processes and market analyses.
You acquire an in-depth knowledge of strategic management and corporate strategy, and learn to use theory to analyse financial and strategic issues.
Career Opportunities
If your ambition is to work as a financial manager or chief financial officer, the FSM concentration is for you. Apart from knowledge on cash management and contemporary financing techniques, you will master strategic analyses in order to understand and support corporate decision-making processes. These skills are also necessary if you wish to work as an external adviser to corporate decision makers or as an investment banker.
