Teaching Method

How you learn at CBS Executive

Taking an MBA degree or participating in one of the Executive Master programmes is a great opportunity for personal development. But it is also a big challenge, because of the amount of reading materials and comprehensive ideas you are faced with. It is therefore important that the teaching method matches your way of learning.

Learning
Learning is something that happens both inside yourself and between you and your fellow participants. It is the way that you take in the theories, models, cases and other information that you are confronted with, how you reflect upon them and how you apply them in your daily work life as well as in your personal life. Your learning process can be stimulated by different teaching styles and methods. At CBS Executive we are creating a learning environment through our teaching method to provide you with the best learning opportunity.

The learning environment at CBS Executive
Teaching and learning are two terms that are used in many ways, and sometimes describe the same. They are closely related, but, nonetheless, different. At CBS Executive we recognise the differences and benefits from this close relation when we create a learning environment together with our faculty and participants.

Teaching method
At CBS Executive the focus of our teaching method is on creating learning together with our participants and faculty. This is achieved through dialogue-based and interactive lectures and discussions. We believe that competences are not developed through a one-way communication, but rather through a discussion of theories and the participants’ experiences. This way the participants and the professors together combine theory and practice in order to create new knowledge.
Participants
Our teaching method requires a lot from our participants. They are expected to take responsibility for their own learning. Without active participation of the participants, a fruitful and successful learning environment cannot exist. The participants' daily professional work is essential for the necessary dynamic between theory and practice. This is why the programmes at CBS Executive – with the exception of the full-time MBA – are part-time. The participants thus deal with their own organisations within an educational framework.
Faculty
CBS Executive is research-based and therefore relies on our highly recognised academic staff. The faculty has the responsibility to plan dialogue-based lectures and facilitate the discussions in the class room.
