Course content, structure and teaching
The course focuses on institutions, actors and processes involved in developing and shaping the international and global political, societal and institutional framework for business. It gives students factual knowledge about institutional forms, governance principles and regulatory content of major sources of international business regulation, and it covers important contemporary theories and approaches to this field. The approaches are discussed and compared based on their inherent theoretical strengths and weaknesses, and it also stresses evaluation of their applicability in empirical analysis.
Learning Objectives
After completing the course students should be able to:
  • Describe main concepts and theories concerned with the international and global framework for business.
  • Describe main sources of international and global business regulation, institutionally and in terms of regulatory content based on the curriculum and independent reading.
  • Compare, evaluate and discuss concepts and theories based on curriculum and independent reading.
  • Relate concepts and theories to data and suggest answers to analytical questions.
Type of examination, exam aids and assessment
Individual 24-hour written home assignment, 6-10 pages. The exam is graded by teacher and external censor on the 7-point scale. The exam is in April.
Re-exam and make-up exam: When ill at the hand-in deadline of the home assignment and when the ordinary exam is failed, is a 4-hour written closed book exam. It is allowed to bring basic language dictionaries (e.g. Danish/English and English/Danish) to the exam. It is not allowed to bring specialized dictionaries (e.g. English/Danish dictionary on financial terms). Pocket calculators are not allowed.
The re-exam is in August.
