Prerequisite/progression of the course
The course is part of the BSc in Business Administration & Service Management at CBS. However, students from other universities can take this course as an elective, according to the prevailing rules. The students must document a level in English equal to TOEFL 575 and a level in mathematics equal to Danish level B.
Course content, structure and teaching
The course is based on parts of the book: Finance Management. It furthermore includes examples (cases) of financing such as festivals, theatres, museums, hotels, and sport clubs.
The course's development of personal competences
Students will gain knowledge and understanding of financial management that adds to the sum of their qualifications.
Learning Objectives
Course purpose:
To give the students a basic introduction to finance both theoretically and applied to business in the service sector.
Learning purposes to achieve:
To know the core concepts and basic models related to the topics just mentioned in relation to Ffinancial Management.
To apply the models to different cases such as festivals, museums, hotels, theatres etc.
Lectures, case analyses and discussions. Active participation by the students is a must.
Type of examination, exam aids and assessment
  • A miniproject of 10 pages and an individual oral exam of 20 minutes.
  • The topic for your mini project must be approved by Jørgen Vinding on: vinding-privat@get2net.dk
  • The mini project must be handed in on the 20th of November before 12:00 to to Susanne Faurholdt in Center for Tourism and Culture Management, Solbjerg Plads 3, 5th floor in section C.
  • You must hand in 3 copies of the mini project.
  • The oral exams will take place in week 49, 50
Approximately 5 minutes will be used for a short introduction to the mini project.
The grade will be based on an overall impression of the student’s academic qualifications within the following areas: The written project, the presentation and discussion of the project and the answers to questions within the curriculum.
