Gabriel Cuellar
My name is Gabriel Cuellar, I am 100% Colombian (Like the coffee, you know!) I am studying MSc in Business, Language and Culture (cand.merc.int) with a specialization in: Business and Development Studies.
It has been 2 months since I arrived here in DK, and I like it a lot so far. What I like About Denmark is the way people move around and the zero dependency on cars. I think that public transportation here works great; in addition you have a huge amount of kilometers destined for bicycle lanes all around the city. I like the multicultural atmosphere in Copenhagen; Danes are very friendly and helpful, at least based on my own experience.
Copenhagen is not a huge city and it is well organized, I will say it is a very manageable city. However, be ready to spend some time looking for a place to live because it is not an easy task.
Everybody speaks English here, and the Danes don’t get bother if you approach them in English, but getting a job without any Danish skills is a tough quest, I will suggest taking free Danish classes that CBS offers.
I heard about CBS right after I finished my bachelor in the USA, I read the description of the MSc in Business, Language and Culture (cand.merc.int) together with the Business and Development Studies – specialization, which sounded very interesting to me, since then, I wanted to study here. I feel very fortunate to be part of this institution, since I was one of the few students to receive a scholarship from CBS this year.
I am looking at two paths for my future after graduating from CBS: One path will be to work for a multinational corporation focusing on developing business projects in developing countries and emerging economies. Another path is to work for any branch of the United Nations that focuses on developing markets like UNCTAD. I am confident that CBS will provide me with the set of tools to be successful in this highly competitive and globalized job environment.
I will like to help anyone interested to know more about CBS, the experience of moving here, etc.
