External Examiners' Secretariat

The External Examiners' Secretariat provides secretariat services to the two national Chairmen’s Committee of External Examiners in Denmark serving programmes in business administration and business languages.
The Chairmen and Vice Chairmen have been elected from among all the external examiners, appointed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, to serve as second examiners at universities and centres of higher education - offering degree programmes in business administration and business languages.
The rules of the Examinations Order specify two types of second examiners:
  • External second examiners, appointed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation
  • Internal second examiners, appointed from among teachers at universities and centres of higher education
External and internal second examiners have the following common duties:
  • overseeing that the requirements for the exams of the degree programmes, including written exams, are consistent with the objectives defined in executive orders and degree regulations
  • overseeing that exams are conducted in conformity with current rules
  • overseeing that students are given a fair and uniform treatment and that their performances are reliably assessed in conformity with the rules of assessment and other rules.
